Cubano in a blankie
We were watching the Food Network show The Kitchen on game day menus and we saw this and wanted to try it. So good!
- 6 slices deli ham, cut in thirds (The generic non-fancy Oscar Meyer style packaged pre-cut squares of ham)
- 6 slices Swiss cheese, cut in thirds
- 1 container (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- yellow mustard for slathering and dipping
- 16 little smokies
- small dill gherkins cut about the size of the length of the smokies
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent dough and break it along the cut marks. There will be 8 triangles. Cut each triangle, lengthwise in half.
- Starting at the wider side of each triangle, put a sliced piece of ham, smear yellow mustard, put on a piece of cheese. Put a smokie and pickle across the wide part (on top of the cheese) and roll the dough towards the skinny part of the dough.
- Put each roll on the baking sheet with the small end on the bottom.
- Bake until golden brown, about 12-15 minutes. Let it cool a little and serve with more mustard for dipping.
