HH Reboot Day 1

I am on the Happy Herbivore 3-Day Reboot followed by the 10-Day Cleanse and Immersion as a way to get my body and my mind back into "herbing." Day 0 was spent menu planning for me as well as menu planning for the family. Lindsey gives you the menu and shopping list when you buy the ebooks, so that part was not difficult.

I also tried to cook at least my first day's worth of meals but the kicker for me is always the drinking, so here's the detox drink above. It's water, Bragg's apple cider vinegar, cinnamon and a little honey. I cannot say that it does not have a taste. It definitely tastes like vinegar water. Do you see how I love it so much that I had to take the first sip, take a loverly photo of myself and then blog this before I took another sip?

Ugh. It is going to be a long day. Maybe tomorrow I will love it more. Lord, let me be a glass 3/4 full kind of gal today.

Paleo Challenge Results

30 days = 5 lbs.

Not a good statistic for me when I have so much more to get my body healthy.

What worked for me:
Big Spazz liked the meat part so he was able to help with the cooking
I found out that I can live on no grains/rice

What didn't work for me:
I didn't exercise like I needed to
My body does not like the fat/oil

Next step: back to vegan for me, even if I have to do it alone. What I will do is moderate my soy/starchy veg/grains to 1 serving a day (which is what I was supposed to do anyway).

Day 15 - 19 Paleo Log

They (meaning our Cross Fit, Imua Challenge coaches) say that Week 3 is supposed to make you feel more energized, but I am feeling more run down and flat tire-ish so LOSER on me. Plus, I stepped on the scale at the doctor's office and only saw a measly 3 pound weight loss!!!!!!

3 pounds is good if you're 5 pounds overweight, but when I am 50 pounds+ overweight, 3 pounds means that I will be fat 4EVER.

Anyway, I was not starving myself and I ate, so I will try to be less pathetic and record my food intake, although somehow I donʻt remember any cheats - how convenient.

Day 15 - 19 
The same freaking breakfast I've been eating for the past 13 days: mini meat and veggie frittata muffins
Seasonal fruit
Herbal tea
Weekend breakfast - which Big Spazz lovingly cooks - some kind of meat he smoked himself and some veggies and some eggs

Hugh Jass salad with my favorite vinaigrette 
Some kind of meat
Small 1/2 fruit
Leftover occasionally

Goat curry (I will post directions when I get the recipe from Big Spazz)
Mustard chicken thighs with cauliflower rice (my trick is to pulse the cauliflower in small batches or it doesn't come to the right consistency)
Prime rib and salad with crab and shrimp (OK, it was a special occasion and we went to a buffet so our portion sizes were WAAAAAYYYYY off and I don't think I really took salad. I took a plate of desserts and soft serve ice cream bar for myself, though).
Carnitas - said no to the refried beans, but not to the homemade Spanish rice or to the two corn tortillas (or to the tres leche cake with homemade whip cream that Big Spazz made)
Hamburger steak with onions and mushrooms, salad

Phew - I think I gained those 3 pounds back.

Today is Monday, and it is a new day.

Day 14 Paleo log

I had a NovaSure  and a D&C procedure done at the hospital, so no eating from midnight, and I was in major pain and nausea when I left the hospital so just one meal to record today.

Favorite Green Beans with Almonds

My husband put the bag of green beans in the wine cooler and we left for the weekend, so I didn't have a choice but to make the whole bag. Hereʻs my favorite use of the 2 lb. bag of haricot verts from Costco:

2 lbs haricort verts (young green beans)
4 T. butter
2-3 cloves garlic
1/2 cup chopped almonds

My pan can only fit one batch at a time, so melt 2 T butter with almonds until almonds are brown, then cook beans and garlic until just done and still crisp. Make next batch.
